''Michael has been employed by me as stonemason for some eight weeks this summer and autumn. The work concerned the construction of a flight of stone steps in my garden with associated walling, slabbing, etc. I have found Michael's work and personal attributes totally satisfactory in all respects; his honesty and dedication to the job in hand being particularly above reproach. I would be entirely happy to employ Michael in the future and to recommend him without reservation to others.'' -C. McDonald, Edinburgh (November, 2014)

''Michael has carried out extensive pointing, wall building and gravel laying for me. The work was carried out to the very highest standard, in a timely fashion and at a very reasonable cost. I can personally recommend him to anyone requiring an honest hardworking person.'' Sandy Cormack, Churchill, Edinburgh (July, 2015)

'' Michael has just finished a large job for us. We asked him to repair 300 sq.m. of York stone paving, which I think was much more difficult than starting from scratch, and he has done a terrific job. His work is meticulous, with every area checked and rechecked until it was up to his exacting standards. He has also given us a two year verbal guarantee, advising that we can contact him at any time if there are any problems and we are confident that this will be honoured.'' -Ev McVie, Wardie, Edinburgh (August, 2015)

''I have employed Michael Boyd on a number of occasions over the past six or seven years, including, this year, rebuilding my garden wall. I'd have no hesitation in recommending him as both a skilled and conscientious worker, and as someone whose rates are very reasonable.'' -Neil Kynaston, Portobello, Edinburgh (November, 2015)

''After much deliberation we decided to have the front of our house re pointed with traditional lime mortar and contacted Rocheid who took time to explain the benefits of lime mortar and the various procedures that would be undertaken to apply the new mortar which convinced us we had made the right decision.

Michael did an excellent job on the front of our house tackling any stone repair work that was necessary while carefully removing the old mortar. He then applied the lime mortar enabling our stone work to breathe naturally again which in turn preserves the life of the stone.

Michael is a reliable and thoughtful stonemason who kept to his estimated schedule and budget, clearing up at the end of each day and returning at the end of the job to check the work was to our satisfaction.

We are delighted with the appearance of our house and I have no hesitation in recommending Rocheid's craftsmanship and reliability to anybody who is needing any stone restoration or repair work undertaken.''           -Gordon Munro, Bonnyrigg (January, 2016)

''Michael rebuilt a substantial portion of our boundary wall. He did so quickly and efficiently. The end result is excellent and highly professional. I would have no hesitation in recommending him.'' Lord Burns, Edinburgh (June, 2016)

''Michael was recommended to me by a friend. I wanted my back garden wall repointed.

Michael was an excellent craftsman who took pride in doing a good job. He even fashioned a stone out of a block as it was missing from the side of my gate.

I also asked him to re harl the stone work round my garden which he did very proficiently. He was an extremely punctual and tidy worker... and I would have no hesitation in recommending him.'' Fiona Davis, Edinburgh (August, 2016)

''Michael did an amazing job restoring and rebuilding a very old stone wall that runs the length of our garden, completing the job within the time predicted and within the estimate provided. The wall repair looks better than I could have hoped for, as Michael's skills with stone and lime mortar allowed for a rebuild that blended in to the original style of the wall rather than looking like a patch repair. I can highly recommend Michael for all manner of stonework and he will be top of our list for our next project.'' Jessica Stuart, Musselburgh (September, 2016)

''Michael did an excellent job of repointing about 30 square metres of stonework and relaying a patio - the price was very reasonable and estimate of time to complete very accurate - I have already recommended him to several of my colleagues and friends and will use his skills again.'' Lee Dobbie, Edinburgh (March, 2017)

''After completing an excellent job of repointing the front of our house with lime mortar two years ago we asked Michael back to point the remaining gable end of the house. As before Michael did a fine job that we are very happy with, he carefully removed the old cement and patiently replaced this with lime mortar allowing the wall to breathe. The work was done on time and budget and as always Michael made sure the site was left clean and tidy.'' Gordon Munro, Bonnyrigg (July, 2017)

''first class work, competitively costed and very professional on timekeeping and meeting deadline dates.'' Steve Mitchill, Gullane (October, 2017)

''reliable, conscientious with attention to detail and reasonably priced.''Adam Taylor, Portobello (July, 2018)

'This was a very professional job, with great attention to detail. Fitting in with the particulars of the brief and accommodating design features (the gate and my fossils!) was taken on with ease and understanding,' Anne Gilchrist, Pathead (July, 2019)
